Mission

Founded in 1985, Académie Still Québec, so named after the founder of osteopathy, Andrew Taylor Still, provides physiotherapists with seminars in osteopathy according to the American approach. The curriculum is inspired from that of the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in East Lansing, Michigan, to professionals such as physiotherapists and medical doctors who wish to acquire knowledge and know-how in manual and osteopathic therapy. Our training is at the graduate level and is offered only to professionals who have obtained a degree in physiotherapy, medicine or dental medicine and who are interested in othopaedic manual therapy. It constitutes a "multiple option" training as defined by the Quebec order of physiotherapists in its stand of may 6, 1998 on the practice of osteopathy. Multiple option training (cross-training) is the preparation that a practitioner of a profession must obtain in order to acquire the abilities and perform the tasks typically associated with another profession or discipline. Multiple option training therefore requires the acquisition and the practice of new abilities and activities, without its being considered as the use or abuse of the title or of the identity of another profession or discipline.
Moreover, the training provided by the ASQ respects the principle of evidence-based practice as recognized by the international scientific community.

The complete program of the ASQ amounts to 30 credits (1350 hours) and leads to diploma in osteopathy.
